Friday 28th of May brings with it the last Off Modern party before the summer comes and whisks us all away to dizzying foreign climes, exciting new horizons, and multi-storey car parks in Peckham.

Currently touring the country with one of our favorite bands HOLY FUCK, Phantom come join the party with their mesmerizingly soulful and hypnotic beats.

This month too we’ve booked a stellar lineup of DJs, packing both rooms until the wee hours, with old friends like FEEDING TIME, TRANSPARENT DJS and IS TROPICAL, new sounds from ZARCORP (LATE OF THE PIER), THE BOOGALOO CREW and TOM RAVENSCROFT (RADIO 1) and the best in the way of Peckham representation with sets from MY PANDA SHALL FLY, CHRIS AND LARRY (BAR STORY) and RAINE & JERMAINE.

plus, of course, be in room one come 3AM for the epic final showdown between our residents TOMFOOLERY and NASTY MCQUAID

Memento Mori - Scene V
a collaboration between Daniel Swan and Lucy Stockton

Hovering somewhere between unused science fiction film-set and immersive walk-in installation, MEMENTO MORI allows visitors to partake in the hazy funeral ceremony of a human being that will not exist for fifty generations.

Taking cues from folk tradition, dreams, popular culture and films both real and imagined, a stark vision of a ceremony mutated yet preserved by time and events is presented using our primitive technology. Data projection, sculpture, light, fog and sound combine to produce the immersive and intoxicating environment of a distant future strongly influenced by its past, with dim fluorescents, distant clouds and potted plants reflecting in the elevated black coffin that presides over the scene.

Hi everyone, its a been little quite of late here, and thats because we have been working hard on loads of different little things, but we almost have the second Off Modern magazine coming out in the new year. If you’d like to check out the Ditto Press Blog you can find a little teaser, you should also check them out anyway, Ben Freeman is the mastermind behind the excellent FUN magazine, which we’ve mentioned before. If you have anything you need printing I’d recommend checking them out.

IN other news we put on a massive squat party in Mayfair a few weeks ago, Fiction played live, there was a whole host of excellent djs, and a few police officers too. We’ll have photos up soon, promise. Fiction have incidentally just recorded a new song, its called Big Things, its great. Listen here.

Here’s a preview of a photo poster series that will be fully exhibited at the 10th Off Modern, on December 3rd at Corsica Studios.

The 10th Off Modern is on the 3rd of December at Corsica Studios.

There will be live music from PLUGS and ACRES, ACRES, plus an exclusive DJ set from up and coming house mystro JAM CITY whose excellent mix for FACT magazine can be downloaded here.

And of course there will be appearances from our residents Tomfoolery and Nasty Mcquaid, a very special performance in the gallery from Hounds Of Hate and loads more TBC.

At this Thursday’s Off Modern (for full details see the post below) we will be running a special documentary project with Time To Waste. This project involves us selecting fifteen people to document the night on disposable cameras with the results to be exhibited at a future event. You’ll get free entry to the club and a disposable camera for the night. So if you’d like to be involved please send an email to contact@offmodern.com with your name and we’ll let you know if you’ve been accepted. This is on a first come first served basis.
